Originally established in 1996 under the name Smt. Rukshamaniben Amrutlal Sheth Shartul Gurukul Centre for Special Children, was being managed by very dedicated, loving, caring and committed Trustees Smt. Ela Mehta, Smt. Paru Shroff and their colleagues. In April 2014, the Centre was handed over to Mumbai Pradesh Arya Vidya Sabha who runs Gurukul Educational Institutions in Ghatkopar East.
Gurukul Centre for Special Children (GCSC) is a unique rehabilitant and educational centre for special children. The centre caters to the special needs of children affected with cerebral palsy, mental retardation, autism and learning disability with excellent therapeutic management education programs, pre-vocational skill and vocational skill training with an ultimate aim of achieving independence. The centre aims at the holistic development of special children and provides supporting structure to them by creating positive, loving and caring environment. GCSC has therapy, academics and vocational skill training all under one roof.
GCSC offers a learning space to over 90 students not only from Ghatkopar but from all over Mumbai. GCSC is a place where diverse learners learn together, safely and successfully with utmost sensitivity to each ones unique learning needs and styles. GCSC ensures that learners are happy and safe both physically and psychologically as they go about their learning journey in a joyful way. GCSC offers quality education with a holistic approach for the all round development of a child within a caring secure environment.
